what would you do?

I finally cut into ALL of my Flea Market Fancy stash and I must say it feels good....I have been collecting this collection for over a year now and last month I realized that I just needed to DO SOMETHING with it....just sitting in a drawer for me to open every once in a while is silly, so cutting I did!! This is where I need a little help...I am 99% sure of which design I am going to use but wanted a few opinions....I have 42 blocks, they measure 11" x 11". I have a queen sized bed...with this option I had 7 blocks left over that I would use on the back with the fabric at the end of this post (that I got a KILLER deal on!) and a solid color, same as the blue/aqua in this line of the blue seeds/aqua bouquet. (those of you that know about this line know what color I am talking about, if you don't know about this line...read on!)
So here is the first option, white sashing around each block.
Here is an idea of the 2nd option, group them all together then have a large white border/sashing around all of the blocks (I would use all 42 blocks on this top, none on the back)
Here is the fabric I got a killer deal on, I just love it, click on it to see up close. :)

Like I mentioned above I am 99% sure of which choice I will go with but just wanted to find out any more opinions, likes, dislikes, ideas. Whatever I decide I will be working on this quilt this weekend and get it off to my quilter in the next week or so, I want this baby on my bed by early spring!!!

  1. I like the first sashed choice better - you see more of all those individual prints. And I love that blue print too! I got some in grey and keep thinking I should have got a ton more.

  2. I agree. I like the sashing idea better than the border idea. Really - they would both look great. (Ashley's looked good with no white, which surprised me). And I've seen that backing fabric before. It's a very cute print! What's the binding? Did you already say?

  3. I like the white sashing around the squares. I think that it helps the gorgeous patterns and colors stand out, not to mention all your hard work. This is really going to be beautiful when you are done.

  4. A fourth vote for sashing. It showcases the fabrics really well.

  6. I'm jealous - I have always drooled over Flea Market Fancy but I never took the plunge. I like your second option because I like it best all touchy and mingling together. It definitely has more fun that way. I don't think that it would like being separated by white borders! ;-) just saying....

  7. p.s. I've always known that my mind works a little crazy...comparing my comment to the rest, it has now been confirmed! Are you sure you want to come to 'my' art retreat? We might just have too much fun (living w/o borders and all).... ;-)

  8. Kristine, I too have to vote for the white sashing! That would look too awesome! It separates each box out, and is not too busy, imo. Either would look good, but also having the extra boxes on the back, would really tie the front and back together! I LOVE it, can't wait to see it finished!!! Have you thought about how you are going to quilt it?

  9. Another vote for sashing! I have FMF envy! I got my first two pieces over the holidays at a small store where it was hiding. I LOVE that backing fabric... oops, I have the same stuff! it works great with FMF!
